Sybol Atkins Douthit's Obituary
Sybol Atkins Douthit went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2021.
Sybol was born in Truman, Arkansas on February 18, 1924 to James William Atkins and Laura Mable Whitt Atkins. Sybol was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank Douthit, her brother, Jack Atkins and her sister, Dorothy Locke, best friend, Robert Johnson of Hughes and Honey Bond of Earle.
She is survived by her nephew, Jesse Locke and niece, Linda Locke and many loved cousins from the Whitt family.
Sybol worked as an Administrator at the VA Hospital in Memphis. In retirement, Sybol and Frank were proud members of the Good Sam Club. They proudly wore their Sam Club vests and traveled almost continuously across the United States to meet their friends at Samborees. Sybol just loved being around people, was never the one to stay home and always had a smile on her face. She remained positive even as her health declined.
During her life, she was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN and at Horseshoe Lake Baptist Church and Lake Shore Baptist Church in Hughes, Arkansas.
Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Gibson Bayou Cemetery Association, P.O. Box, Wynne, AR, 72396.
Due to the COVID pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later time.
