Suzanne Batte Brewer's Obituary
Suzanne Batte Brewer passed away at the age of 80 on February 5th, 2023. Suzanne was born in Memphis in 1943 to parents William Howell Batte and Margaret Frances Terrell Batte. She attended Sacred Heart school. She had three siblings - Yvonne, Howell, and Cecilia - whom she absolutely adored. She took great pride in being big sister to Cecilia and Howell. Cecilia was her lifelong companion, and they both relished daily conversations with one another.
She worked for the Cotton Board for over 40 years as a Data Processing Manager, making her a trailblazer as a woman in the early days of IT. She made many friends at The Cotton Board, and looked back on her days there with fond memories.
She was a dedicated mother of one child, Daniel Brewer, and loved to talk about the joys and trials of raising him. She enjoyed taking him for summer vacations to visit family in Florida while he was growing up. She was thrilled to become a grandmother to three beautiful grandchildren - Eleanor, Declan, and Josephine - later in life. She enjoyed just sitting with them and being together in her home, and they felt just the same! They loved going to grandma's house. Their presence made her feel better during the physical pain she experienced with age.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of many years, I T; siblings, Yvonne and Howell. She is survived by her only child, Daniel (Tiffany) Brewer; sister Cecilia (Jerry) Lumpkin; three grandchildren, Eleanor, Declan, and Josephine; special friend Diane. They will all miss her love, talent for creating beautiful things, humor, and even her stubbornness. We are grateful that she is no longer in pain.
If you would like to pay your respects, you are encouraged to join her family at the memorial service being held in her honor at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10:00am with a funeral following at 11:00am on Saturday, February 11th, with Fr. Patrick Gallagher presiding.
