Susan Stroud Turner's Obituary
Susan Stroud Turner 73 of Memphis, TN passed away on December 3, 2022.
Susan was born in Memphis, TN., in 1949 to Ben and Clarice Stroud.
She graduated from Central High School with honors. She earned a B.S. Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in English from the University of Memphis. She received a certificate of completion from the Kellogg Institute in North Carolina. She received her certifications for teaching in English and Library Science from the University of Memphis.
Susan taught Reading and Study Skills at Southwest Tennessee Community College and taught English Composition, grammar, and business English through Continuing Education at the University of Memphis. She was a librarian and instructor with Briarcrest Christian School, Evangelical Christian School, and Shelby County Schools. Susan attended conferences and made presentations for the National Association for Developmental Education.
Susan spent her free time gardening, cooking, and keeping in touch with family and friends.
Throughout her busy career, Susan also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Barry to Yosemite, Glacier, Waterton, and Yellowstone National Parks. They also visited Italy, France, and Switzerland.
Susan is survived by her husband Barry Turner, her sister Carol Crowder, her brother Ben Stroud, and her sister-in-law, Debbie Allen, and her many mid-south friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 21 at 12:00 p.m. with a celebration of Susan’s life at 2:00 p.m. all in the Fireside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.
