Susan Belcher Russell's Obituary
On July 31, 2022, Susan Belcher Russell was called to her eternal home where she was restored and reunited with her late husband, Rowe M. Belcher, Jr. (“Buzzy”), and daughter, Melissa Belcher Chiles.
Susan was born October 24, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Robert Graham (“R.G.”) and Martha Ramsay. Susan attended White Station High School and Memphis State University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Susan served as a school teacher at Germantown Middle School for 20 years where she positively impacted countless students. Susan was blessed with a servant’s heart and was a committed volunteer at Les Passees and member at Christ United Methodist Church. She understood the importance of family and provided unwavering encouragement and support to her children. Susan enjoyed cooking, traveling, and attending her son’s sporting events.
In addition to her late husband, daughter, and parents, Susan was preceded in death by her sister, Becky Storm.
She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Russell, of Memphis, TN; son, Rowe M. Belcher, III (“Trey”) and daughter-in-law, Lauren Belcher, of Ridgeland, MS; and grandchildren, William Graham Chiles, Bennett Landon Belcher, Barron Rowe Belcher, and Bevin Susanne Belcher. The family would like to express their appreciation to Beau Ridge Memory Care in Ridgeland, MS, for their loving care and kindness.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 5th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, TN. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. A private burial service will immediately follow the memorial service in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
