Susan Rambo's Obituary
Susan Hillis Rambo, 68, wife of Dan Rambo, passed away in Brentwood, TN on August 19, 2010. Susan was born in McMinnville, TN. She was preceded in death by Perkie & Wayman Hillis. She attended the University of Tennessee where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. As an alumnae, Susan served as President of the Shelby County Alumnae Assoc and as president of the UT Women’s Council. Working for Lebonheur Hospital, Susan began the TWIG Organization and the first Festival of Trees. Susan’s real love in business was retail, managing the John Simmons Shop and owning Harbor Town Gift and Gardens. She was a member of Christ United Methodist. Along with her husband of 47 years, Susan leaves two sons, Richard (Mary Katherine) and Andy (Molly). She also leaves 4 grandsons who were the light of her life for the last 5 years and her sister Ellen Finney (Jim) of Kingsport, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or to The Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund at Vanderbilt (vicc.org/giving). Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 22. Service celebrating Susan’s life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Wilson Chapel, 4488 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 23, 2010.
