Susan Ferrill Lewis' Obituary
Susan “Susie” Ferrill Lewis, 67, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2023. Susie was born on January 12, 1956, in Atlanta, Georgia. Susie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a devout Christian, having professed her faith in Christ from an early age. For many years, Susie and her family were members of LaBelle Haven Baptist Church.
Susie loved life and had many hobbies, including birdwatching, gardening, and shopping with her sister. She loved spending time with her family, and she could often be found with her husband in their sunroom or playing in the pool on a warm, sunny day with her grandchildren. She was a passionate local sports fan and loved cheering on the Memphis Tigers basketball and football teams, as well as the Memphis Grizzlies.
Susie is survived by her husband of 36 years, James Calvin Lewis, III; two sons, Daniel Lewis (Vania), and Joel Lewis (Whitney); twin sister, Cindy Wilhite; half-sisters Julie Zwies and Jennifer Seal; and two grandchildren Everett and Josephine Lewis. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Hilton Ferrill and Margaret Lee Ferrill; brother, Mike Ferrill; and half-brother, John Hilton Ferrill.
Susie will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her by making a memorial contribution to St. Jude.
Funeral service for Susan will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 1:00pm in the Rotunda of Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service starting at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
