Susan "Koko" May Holt's Obituary
Koko was born on October 23, 1953 in Cape Girardeau, MO to the late Harry and Virginia May. She graduated from Caruthersville High School in 1971 and attended Lambuth College, where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Social Sorority. During her time at Lambuth, she met the love of her life, Bubba Holt. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a few months later married Bubba on September 27, 1975. Koko and Bubba were married for 48 years.
Koko loved spending time with friends and family at the Holt family lake house in Pickwick, TN and taking family trips to the beach. She enjoyed being outside and entertaining others by the pool. She loved working in her garden and was a member of the English Meadows Garden Club.
Koko’s true joy in life came from her family. She deeply cherished her husband, son, daughter-in-law, and her two precious grandchildren. She considered them her greatest accomplishment.
Koko is survived by her loving husband Bubba, her son Matt (Caitlin), and her two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Harrison. She also leaves behind her sisters, Kemp May Boyd of Jackson, TN and Harriett May Smith of Cordova, TN along with many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John May.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Memorial Park from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Koko to the American Society of Hematology Foundation, which provides support for the study of blood cancers.
