Susan Harris' Obituary
Susan Leigh Gunn Harris, 60, passed away on August 6, 2016, at her home in Germantown, Tennessee. She was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on September 8, 1955, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Billy Joe Gunn. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Joseph Gunn. She is survived by her husband, Joe Harris; two sons, Jeff Harris (Tricia) of Germantown, Tennessee, and Luke Harris (Heather) of Jackson, Mississippi; one daughter, Suzanne Harris Tuck (Greyson) of Memphis, Tennessee; and six grandchildren, Henry Tuck, Simmons Tuck, Joseph Harris, Thomas Harris, Talmadge Harris, and Eliza Tuck. Susan was a graduate of the University of Mississippi, where she served as president of Kappa Delta sorority and was elected to the homecoming court. She married her high school sweetheart, Joe, in 1977. She was involved with the Junior Auxiliary of Vicksburg and was co-editor of the first edition of the Vintage Vicksburg cookbook. She was a founding member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi, and was an active member of Germantown Presbyterian Church. She was a volunteer for the Josephine Circle and Stephen Ministries for several years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and vacationing at the beach. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She selflessly gave of herself to others in ministry and mentorship. Susan’s family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Moon Fenton, Dr. Todd Stockstill, Dr. Clay Jackson, Anita Vincent, and all the excellent staff at the West Cancer Center for their kind and compassionate care. Visitation will be held at Germantown Presbyterian Church on Monday, August 8, from 5-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at Germantown Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, August 9, at 11:00 am. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Stephen Ministries (www.stephenministries.org) and Germantown Presbyterian Church (www.germantownpres.org)
