Susan Miles Blackwell, 75, died on Monday, November 15, 2021 surrounded by family
Born on August 5, 1946, she was one of two children of the late Thomas Edison Mitchell Jr and Mabel Bennett Mitchell. She graduated from Whitehaven High School and then graduated from the Mississippi University for Women with a Bachelors’ degree in History. She retired from Youth Villages, Dogwood campus after 20 years as a teacher and principal. She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael D. Blackwell. Susan is survived by; Samantha B. (Ruth) Miles of Memphis; Aaron (Stephanie) Miles of Nashville, Nathan Miles of Memphis, Kathleen (Billy) Hendrickson of Roanoke, VA and Patrick (Sue) O'Hearn of Memphis and, four grandchildren William, Griffin, Davis, and Connor; and brother Thomas Edison (Virginia) Mitchell III of Memphis.
Graveside services for family and friends will be held at Elmwood cemetery, on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 12:00pm
