Sue Nettleton Douglass' Obituary
SUE NETTLETON DOUGLASS, 90, of Memphis, passed away peacefully on June 2 at the Allen Morgan Health Center after a long illness. Private services will be held graveside at Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at the St. Edward Chapel at Trezevant Manor on Tuesday, June 7 at 1:30 pm. Mrs. Douglass was born in Fordyce, Arkansas, in 1925 and moved to Memphis as a child. She was a graduate of Central High School. After raising four sons, Mrs. Douglass worked at Memphis State University where she was an administrative secretary in the Department of Education for 20 years. In addition to her professional work, she was active in the Memphis Symphony League and the Brooks Museum League. Mrs. Douglass was also an active volunteer in The Beaux Arts Garden Club and the Exchange Club of Memphis. Mrs. Douglass is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Mr. Gene Douglass. She leaves her sons and their families, Gene (Judy), Chuck (Mary), Steve (Nora) and Mike (Maria), all of Memphis. She also leaves ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Brooks Museum, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar, Memphis, TN 38119. “Celebrating Life…..Behind the Stone Wall”.
