Steven McLain Jones' Obituary
Steven M. Jones, age 82, passed away peacefully on Feb. 4, 2026.
Born on May 26th, 1943, in Camp Forrest, TN, Steven was the son of Edwin and Marjorie Jones. Throughout his life he was known for his sense of humor and someone that could fix almost anything. He was dedicated to his family.
Steven graduated from Bartlett high school in 1961. He then attended Univ. of TN Martin and graduated in 1965 with a degree in Industrial Engineering.
Steven served in the Naval Air Reserve from 1965-1971 where he worked on repairing guidance systems and radar on air-to-air missiles.
He began his career at Holiday Inn as a video production engineer and then Chief Engineer from 1969-1975.
He then went on to work at Federal Express as a Senior engineer in video production until his retirement.
Outside of work, Steven enjoyed being a private pilot, spending summers at the lake with family and friends. And later buying a house at pickwick lake. He loved going out on the pontoon boat especially with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Jones; children, Brian Jones and Whitney Cheek, sisters Christy Anderson and Nancy Earles, and grandchildren; Mallory Myatt, Brent Jones, and Trevor Jones
Steven’s memory will forever live in the hearts of his family and those who loved him.
Visitation for Mr. Jones will be held Monday, February 23, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The memorial service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, beginning at 2:00 PM in the Fireside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. The committal service will follow the memorial service in Memorial Park Cemetery.
