Like it was yesterday…I knew Steve in the mid-late eighties when we worked together at Disneyland in the Village Haus restaurant in Fantasyland. A few friends of mine, that also worked with him, informed me of his recent passing. I was shocked. Although I had not seen or talked to Steve since those days in the park, i remember him like it were yesterday…And I remember him fondly. Steve was cool. A different kind of cool. He was classy-cool. Steve was smart, thoughtful, kind, caring, and seemingly a bit more mature and sophisticated than most of the rest of us late-teen/early-twenty-somethings. He seemed to have an extra degree of togetherness, organization, plans. All that maturity, headiness, yet he still was cool and was ready for a good time. It’s no surprise to me that Steve became a Doctor. And from what I’ve read about him, it’ no surprise that he was “a Giant” in his chosen field and that he had a great/fun time all the while. I was recently telling my wife a few stories about Steve, that made me smile. I remember Steve, another friend and I thru a great big beach party (probably the summer of ’87, maybe ’88) at Huntington Beach. Must have been a 150 people there that night. I remember Steve and I driving around earlier in the day in my old beat-up pick up truck searching for wood pallets for our big bonfire, like it was yesterday…I will also never forget the sound of Steve’s voice (that deep meaningful voice) when he would call out on the restaurant counter at the Village Haus, “Brownie please”. Like it was yesterday…To Steve’s family, my condolences. Steve was a great, great guy!!Steve, I’m wishing you a great big plate of brownies…Meech Tahsequah
