Steve Austin's Obituary
Steve Austin passed away in his home on November 12, 2024 at 74 years of age after a six month battle with cancer. He leaves behind a son and daughter, two grandchildren, a sister and her husband and their two children and their multiple grandchildren, as well as cousins and other extended family and friends, including a girl friend who was very supportive and helpful in his final days. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
Steve grew up in Memphis and was a firefighter for the city of Memphis and later moved into the corporate world after having children. He loved his family and wanted to provide them with a good life. Steve was a strong believer in his Christian faith and grew up attending Beverly Hills Baptist Church and later attended Immanual Baptist, Germantown Baptist and finally Second Presbyterian Church where he particularly enjoyed the Sunday School program.
Steve took great pride in his children and enjoyed watching them achieve their goals and build their own families. His children would like to thank everyone who was so incredibly helpful in the past few months taking him to his medical appointments, running errands, and being supportive during this challenging time.
Services will be held on Thursday, November 14th at Memorial Park Funeral Home (5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN) with visitation from 10-11am and a memorial service at 11am. The family requests that instead of flowers or other memorials, any donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation given Steve’s service in the fire department.
