Steve Aldridge's Obituary
Steve Aldridge, 91 years old, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on November 22, 2025 in Knoxville. Steve and his loving wife, Carolyn, lived in Memphis, TN, the majority of their lives. Upon his retirement, they moved and built their dream log cabin in the Smokey Mountains of East TN.
The private graveside service will be held on Friday, December 5th, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born in Memphis, TN, to Joseph Reuben Aldridge and Wilma Lee Lowry Aldridge on March 16, 1934. He graduated from East High School in Memphis in 1951. He enrolled in the US Navy at the age of 17 and served in the Martial Islands during the Korean Conflict. His final Duty Station before returning home was in Hawaii. Steve was discharged March, 1955, but remained in the Reserves for some time. Steve attended college at Memphis State University.
Steve married his high school sweetheart, Lillian Carolyn Gibson, shortly after completing Boot Camp. They have four children.
He began his career in the Accounting Department of the First National Bank of Memphis and moved into the Data Processing Department as computers began to take center stage in the banking realm. His experience continued to expand as Security Manager of First Tennessee Banks statewide operations.
Steve was a great husband and caregiver to his wife, Carolyn, a great father to his children, as well as, a wonderful example to others. He was very active in raising capable young men through sports, scouting, and eventually impacting young women, as well, through the establishment of an Explorer Post, with an emphasis on hiking, canoeing, and whitewater rafting. He was always willing to share his wisdom to encourage others in their journey. Steve was quick witted and loved to laugh and to make others laugh.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 plus years, Carolyn, and his first-born child, Terry Diane Burks of Memphis, TN.
Steve is survived by Raymond Aldridge of Knoxville, TN, Sean Aldridge (Debbie), of Lakeland, TN, and Tanya Newman (Donnie), of Strawberry Plains, TN. Steve is also the grandfather to five granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
