Steve was my back door neighbor for a year before he and Amelia moved. He was a gracious and wonderful person who loved his family so very much and could always brighten my day.
Charles met Steve when he started work at First Tennessee Bank in 1984. They bonded immediately with Charles aggravating Steve from the get-go. They loved going to Clover Day Sales at Goldsmith’s. Steve was a wonderful influence on us both with Charles adopting Steve as a second dad. We were inspired by his love of family and friends! So glad I could visit him everytime I made a trip to Memphis over the past 25 years! To mess with Charles, Steve always addressed the Christmas cards just to me! He was a joy to all who knew him. He will be missed.
Steve was my father-in-law. One of the great memories I have of Steve is our Sunday rides. Cathy and I would often take Mr. And Mrs. Quinn on Sunday rides to various parts of Memphis. He enjoyed rides in the N. Memphis area because he was raised on Ceder Street which is near Holy Names Catholic School. Steve attended Holy Names as a youngster. He particularly enjoyed rides down off Chelsea near the old Firestone and International Harvester plants. While driving down by Rhodes College, Steve would show us where he rode his bike as a boy. While driving in downtown Memphis, Steve would point out where the old Goldsmith’s was. He would point to an empty lot and tell us where an old grocery store once stood or where a hotel once stood. We had great fun on our Sunday rides. We would drive past St. Jude and Steve would point out where the old St. Joseph hospital was. Steve was like a history book about the old parts of Memphis. He would always talk about the river as he sat on our front porch and wish his Dad could “see this.” Steve’s Dad was a River Boat Captain.Steve was a good man. He was the most compassionate and kindest man I ever met. He would always put the well being of others first. God tells us that heaven is a perfect place. Today Steve walks with no walker. He has no trouble breathing nor is he in pain. Steve no longer is in need of medicine because God is now in charge. Yes, heaven is a perfect place and Steve is there.

I will forever remember and cherish the many visits, laughs and phone calls with Mr. Quinn. He was much more than a friend to me, he was family. I know he’s sitting on his Catholic cloud looking down on us all. I love you Mr. Quinn.Kathy Hannigan
Amelia, What an Honor it was to have known and worked with Steve. He and I had many laughs together. I am sorry for your loss and pray that God will be with you and the family at this time. Mott Jones
I never met a kinder and gentler man in my life. I’m proud to say he was great grandfather to two of my grandsons. I know he will now be all of the Quinn kids’ guardian angel looking over them from above. GOD bless and rest in peace Stephen.
