Stephen “Mike” Melton
Mike Melton a resident of Memphis, TN passed away at his home on October 2nd, 2021; with his wife present and surrounded in love.
Mike was born on May 19th 1955 to Margaret “Joy” Jackson and Ruddy Melton. He was raised in Memphis TN, where he graduated high school and attended college. He married his wife Brenda on September 17th 1976. Mike and Brenda raised their family and resided in Memphis.
Mike enjoyed dove hunting and fishing. He could always be counted on for a witty comment or a sarcastic comeback. He was never one to do what was expected but he was always kind and truthful. He loved watching all sports, but he was an especially avid fan of the Chicago Cubs or any team his grandkids were on.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Joy and Ruddy Melton, and his brother Rudner Melton. He is survived by his wife; Brenda, daughters Caroline and son in law Jamie Averitt, Sarah and son in law Jesse Bird, and son Michael Melton. His is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, who he liked more than most. Drew Grindle, Catherine Grindle, Wyatt Bird, William Averitt, Eli Henke, Hannah Averitt, Brody Bird, and Brynn Bird. He also survived by his sister Julie Nations, nephew Robert and niece Mallory and their families.
Mike will be sorely missed by his family. A graveside service will be held on October 7th, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery on Poplar Ave.
