I met Steve during our 7th grade year at Richland Junior High School, Memphis. Among our many adventures were riding to school on the city bus, gaining route knowledge from those rides, and parlaying that knowledge into some "secret" bus rides to the Memphis Zoo, where we would sneak into the zoo via the Old Forest ditch. Finding the right bus home in time for dinner was a challenge!. I has a paper route during early high school (White Station High) and Steve would help me out some mornings. Since I usually threw the route around 4:00 am, we would check in with our parents, sneak out of our respective houses around midnight, then wander around, laughing but really doing nothing nefarious, until time came to throw papers. We attended White Station together, had a grand time in a couple of art classes, then attended several WSHS reunions together, the most recent one being this past June. Steve was my good friend for about 55 years, and I will miss him.
