Across Wing
Steve was an invaluable contributor to my book on naval aviation in Vietnam—Across the Wing. He even provided the picture for my cover, along with many others that he generously allowed me to use. He and I spent hours on the phone, where he regaled me with his stories of flying in a whale during the war. In one of his stories, also told to me by the A-3 pilot flying the aircraft, all three men aboard came very close to losing their lives to SAM missiles over Thanh Hoa. He was still very emotional over that incident, half a century after it happened. Thank you, Steve. God bless you.
