Stella Martin Womack's Obituary
Stella Martin Womack passed away December 20, 2014 after a short illness, at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband, Herschell who died in 1995, and 4 of her 5 brothers, Billy, Joe, Jack and Sam Martin. She has one daughter, Anita, who is married to Robert Ryan. Stella was the oldest of 6 children born in Humphreys County to Annie and Elmer Martin. She has one remaining brother, John. She was active her whole life volunteering for a variety of causes as the need arose. Herschell was a career Air Force officer and Stella followed him to his many assignments including France, Germany, Libya and Alaska and several other states. She was a member of the United Methodist Church her whole life. In her free time she loved to sew, knit and crochet, making many beautiful pieces that are now cherished by her family. Stella was one who always bloomed where she was planted, making many friends along the way. She was a long time resident of Kirby Pines where she moved in 1993 with her husband. The family will receive friends on Friday December 26 from 5-7 pm and a funeral service will be held on Saturday December 27 at 11:30 am all at Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.Funeral Services have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
