Sidney "Sid" Raymond Ball's Obituary
Sidney (Sid) Raymond Ball, 62 of Memphis, TN. It is with tremendous sadness and grief that we announce the passing away of Sid Ball on January 24, 2024. He was born to Wallace S. Ball and Anna Cathryn Ball on September 6, 1961 at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, TN. He is predeceased by his loving parents and sister Jana Ball Jackson (Greg) of Brandon, MS. He is survived by a most loving and devoted sister Jodi Ball and brother Dan Ball both of Memphis. He also leaves three nephews, Andy Jackson of Marietta, GA, Rob Jackson of Lafayette, LA, Will Jackson of Loganville, GA and niece Kathryn Jackson Cutler (Bryant) of Simpsonville, SC and their three boys Robert, Thomas and Alvin. He also leaves behind his beloved cousins Kelley Hayes (Ken) of Decatur, AL, and their two children Patrick Hayes and Caroline Perlstein (Brendan) as well as cousins Suellen McBride of Batesville, AR and John McBride of Huntsville, AR.
Sid graduated from Craigmont High School and with an Engineering degree from State Tech Community College. A natural at his craft, he excelled as an engineer with Shelby County for several years and then on to the Town of Collierville as a Code Inspector Engineer for 27 years. Sid was quite talented and very skilled as he could fix just about anything. He was a treasure to his Mother and Sister as he came running to their aid when something needed repairing, replacing and if they needed help of any kind. He was also close to his younger brother Dan who he shared many hours with just being with their friends, upgrading our Grandparents house which they occupied together until Sid moved into his own place. His friends and co-workers thought the world of him. I didn’t know how much until he got sick and they would help to care for him, sat with him and spent nights at the hospital watching over him along with his sister and brother. His co-workers called daily to talk to him and check on his health. They also visited him in the hospital and shared their true feelings for him through tears as did we all. There will never be anyone to replace Sid in our lives. He was a talkative, animated, loving man who loved to collect anything. He loved to cook, was a huge music fan, and any special effects movie. He had a true love of animals especially dogs and even once had a ferret named Roxy. He had so much he wanted to do, always a project in the works and truly enjoyed life. This is just a few of the hundreds of reasons it is so hard to let him go. While we will miss him as we continue living, we must find peace knowing he is no longer in pain and with our Lord, Mother, Father, Sister, Grandparents and all those who went before him.
