Sidney Cromwell's Obituary
John Sidney “Sid” Cromwell, Jr. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. On May 25, 2024, his 28th wedding anniversary, he passed away in Memphis, TN.
Sid is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, children John (Cindy), Anna (Scott), Jake (Sonny), Chris (Christa) and Melinda (Del). He was Papaw to 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and 4 grand-dogs (Sonny, Charlie, Walter and Chloe).
Sid was a 27-year retiree from the Illinois Central Railroad, beginning his career as a diesel mechanic and ultimately Chairman of Railroad Safety and Executive Board Member. He served in the United States Army 101 Airborne Division in Vietnam. Throughout his life, he was involved in the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Shriners International.
Services will be held on Friday, May 31 beginning with visitation at 11:00 am followed by service at noon - Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN. Pallbearers will be John Cromwell, Jake Winn, Chris Wood, Scott & Garrison Liebert, Del & Parker Clayton, and Steve Johnson. Honorary pallbearers include his many golf partners and card buddies.
