Shirley & I met at Training School on the campus of Memphis State. We became close friends about the 5th grade. I was frequently at her home and I came to know her mom & dad. They always me feel welcome. The sleep overs were special. I really admired her beautiful voice. She could sing most anything and everything. We were cheerleaders in the 9th grade. Shirley was beautiful both inside and out. After we graduated from Training we were students at Messick. I cherish all these memories and so much more. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Shirley always wanted us to have fun at her house. We would talk and laugh, and sometimes she would even play the piano for us. I imagine her now at the Heavenly piano, playing and singing and, of course, laughing. We loved our Aunt Shirley!

This picture of her is the way I will always remember her. She was beautiful inside and out. I will also remember how much she loved Jesus! I have no doubt that she is with Him now. We moved across the street from them when we were 25 years old and newly married and became fast and forever friends. She was my “second Mom” and when our 2 girls were born she and Mr T “adopted” them as their grandchildren. My oldest Rebecca started calling her MsT when she could barely talk and they have been Mr & Ms T to this day. My girls loved them as their grandparents and always stayed in contact with her. Kayla asked me last night if I had heard from her because she had texted her earlier in the day and hadn’t heard back from her. I dread telling them and Phillip that she has passed away. I have so many sweet sweet memories of her that I would love to share here but there’s not enough space, time, or words to say how much we love her, the good influence she had on us, or how much we will miss her.
