Shirley Laehder's Obituary
Shirley R. Laehder of Memphis was born early in the morning of April 28, 1927 in Great Falls, Montana. She spent her childhood years on Ravine Drive in Matawan, NJ where she graduated from Matawan High School. Mrs. Laehder attended 3 years at Rutger’s Womens College (New Jersey College for Women) where she traveled 18 miles a day by bicycle, was a graduate in 1944 from Columbia University in New York where she received her registered nurse degree. She was a member of Germantown Baptist Church and volunteer for St. Francis Hospital-Memphis. Mrs. Laehder was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Drake Laehder; parents, W.C. and Sarah Noddings; brother, Thomas Noddings; and is survived by her daughters, Linda Thornton, Helen Fruitticher, Laura Owens all of Memphis and Shirley Ann Kratzer of Cincinatti, OH; grandchildren, Matthew, Susan, Amy, Alan, Alisa, Michael Jr., Clayton, Holly, Kimberly and Crystal; great grandchildren, Sarah, Allison and Emily; sister, Sarah Ellen Noddings; brothers, Charles and Jim Noddings. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Friday June 17, 2011 and a funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday June 18, 2011 both at Memorial Park Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with the interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery-Memphis
