Shirley King's Obituary
SHIRLEY ANN CARTWRIGHT KING of Collierville, a homemaker and retired teacher for Memphis City Schools, passed away at her home on Friday, April 8, 2011. She was 77 years of age. She will be forever missed by the numerous lives she touched and for the giving spirit she displayed. After rearing her four children, Mrs. King attended Memphis State University where she earned a B.S. degree in Education in 1981; soon after she began her teaching career with the Memphis City Schools as an elementary teacher. Later in life, Mrs. King devoted herself to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren which she enjoyed immensely. She also loved gardening and relaxing with her husband Roy. Both were active members of Covenant Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 11. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, all at Memorial Park Funeral Home. She is survived by her daughter, Renee Bora and her husband Brian of Mission Viejo, CA; three sons: Rodney King of Germantown, TN, Mark King and his wife Sandra of Franklin, TN and Lee King of Irvine, CA; seven grandchildren: Amy O’Reilly of Chicago, IL, Lisa Perkins of Jackson, MS, Stacy Bazemore of Jackson, TN, Steven King of Memphis, TN, Kimberly King of Germantown, TN, Sam and Hallie King of Franklin, TN; five great-grandchildren: Eliza, Addie, Preston, Brooks and Aisling.
