Shirley Foster's Obituary
Shirley Nowell Foster, 84, a native Memphian, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 13, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born August 20, 1928, to the late William and Alice Nowell. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Foster, and sister, Dorothy Rives. A graduate of Southside High School, she retired from Sears in 1987. She was a faithful member of Bellevue Baptist Church. Affectionately known as “Gigi,” she loved her children and grandchildren and truly was a Proverbs 31 woman. She leaves five children, Mike Foster (Gayle) of Snellville, GA, Dennis Foster (Lori) of Colleyville, TX, and Candy Bean, Cindy Foster and Mindy Abrams (Jim) of Cordova. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Michael and Adrian Foster of Snellville, GA, Whitney Swan (Steve) of Tampa Bay, FL, Missy Wright (Matt) Lakeland, TN, Allyson and Parker Foster of Colleyville, TX, Preston Abrams (Martha) and Will Abrams of Memphis. Additionally, she leaves eight great-grandchildren, Emily Kate, Caroline, Jacob, Wyatt and Anabelle Swan of Tampa Bay, FL, and Chloe, Quinn and Foster Wright of Lakeland, TN. Special thanks to Applingwood Healthcare and Crossroads Hospice. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 15 at 1:30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
