Sheila Vernon's Obituary
Sheila Marie Gardner Vernon, 61, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away December 20, 2014. She was born October 27, 1953. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Dr. Michael Vernon; children, Brian Vernon, Laura Beth Russell (Scott), Jason Vernon (Melissa), and Ryan Miller (Kim); grandchildren, Lexi, Michael, Luke, Savannah, and Owen; mother, Hazel Gardner; and brothers, Ron Gardner (Carolyn), Al Gardner (Dot), and Rick Stacks (Sue). She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Gardner and sister, Jessica Gardner. She was a very fun, outgoing, Christian lady, and her family was always the most important part of her life. She was a lover of trivia and always charitable, volunteering at the Oral School for the Deaf, Snowden School and many others. She also served on the Presbytery Council and as church Treasurer and Elder. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, December 23 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 24 at Faith Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will immediately follow at Memorial Hill Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Faith Presbyterian Church. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
