Sharon Joyce Walker's Obituary
Sharon Joyce Walker of Germantown, Tennessee, passed away on May 29, 2023 of cancer with her family by her side. Sharon was born on October 7, 1935 in Peoria, Illinois. She graduated from Woodruff High
School in 1953 and promptly started a family, with sons Stephen born in 1955, Marc in 1956, David in 1960, and Darrin in 1969. Sharon’s calling was to be a mother and homemaker. But when her children were grown, she embarked on a career at the University of Memphis, where she worked at the Visitor Information Center and then in Housing and Residence Life. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Marie Lee; her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Robert Kelly; her son, Marc Walker; and her grandson, Ryan Walker. She is survived by her sons Stephen, David and Darrin Walker; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Walker; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sharon loved traveling, spending time with family, and watching old classic movies, especially It’s a Wonderful Life. She lived a wonderful life, enriching the lives of her family and friends. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on June 23, 2023, at St. Bernard Church in Peoria, Illinois. Sharon will be interred in a family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Peoria.
