Sharon (Rusty) Traylor Carpenter Ogden's Obituary
Sharon (Rusty) Traylor Carpenter Ogden passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, at the age of 92. Sharon led an incredibly full life with focus mostly on family that includes many sisters, brothers, sons, a daughter, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sharon was born in Kennett, Missouri on December 15,1932 to Bill and Stella Traylor. Later, both parents remarried and gave Sharon 7 brothers and sisters, and wonderful step parents, Ros Law and Dorothy Traylor. She absolutely adored all of them, and they all showed much love to her!
Sharon knew both love and loss. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy Carpenter, her youngest son, Scott Carpenter, her sister, Carla Law, and later, her husband, Roger Ogden.
Sharon was very proud of her 10 years spent as a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy working with and processing OCS candidates. However, her greatest joy came from nurturing a growing family. She was a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always present and always supportive. Her legacy will live on through all of them.
Sharon is survived by her sons Joe Carpenter and his wife Cyndy, with grandson Pete Carpenter, and great grandchildren Memphis Carpenter and Rylee Carlock, and granddaughter Jackie Jo Carpenter. Dan Carpenter and Judy Smith, and grandchildren Meredith and Lana. Andy Carpenter and wife Melanie, and grandson Wyatt Ray. Daughter Melanie Kelley and husband, Brian, grandchildren Stacie, Susan, Amy, Victoria and great grandson, Caleb Ward.
Granddaughter Susan and her husband, Logan, made a significant and loving commitment by providing constant daily care for Sharon during the final years of her life.
Sharon is also survived by her dear sisters and brothers who will miss her greatly. Her sisters are Sheila Savala, Terry Larabee, and Pam Matthes. Her brothers are Bill Traylor (Lucille), Don Traylor (Monica), and Butch Traylor (Marilyn).
Sharon’s life was a testament to resilience, much grace, and the power of love and kindness. She made everyone around her feel comfortable, wanted and valued. Her faith in God and Jesus Christ grounded her.
Though we mourn Sharon’s passing, we know she is now with Jesus and those loved ones who passed before her. We celebrate a life well-lived, a life that touched so many and left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
