Sharon Marie Murphy's Obituary
Sharon Marie Murphy, 85, born August 28th, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, died December 3rd, 2025. She is survived by her loving life partner of 30 years, John Murray, brother Rich Murphy, daughters Lisa Beharelle and Sandra James-Yi, granddaughters Kelcie Zepatos, Jackie Beharelle, Katie Zweck, grandson Thomas Yi, and great grandchildren Harry & Nicholas Zepatos and Addie & Cora Zweck. Sharon lived a full life, working as a Stenographer for the FBI in the J. Edgar Hoover building during the JFK years and then at the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and PAR Chemical Company. She spent her retirement traveling the world, painting, taking care of the animals she loved, and helping her family with whatever they needed. She always greeted her family with a coffee and dessert when they came over to visit….and never took “No” for an answer. Her granddaughter Kelcie once asked her, “Are you happy?” and she answered “Of course I am! Look at how far I have made it in life! I got to meet my great grandchildren.” She enjoyed her last two years of life in Memphis at The Opus Retirement Center where she made many friends. She loved visiting the Memphis Botanic Gardens, Dixon Art Gallery, and she could always be found at “Patrick’s” restaurant having her favorite meal. So many knew Sharon as a strong and independent woman from Chicago, but to close family she was known as “Sissy”. She was proud of her Irish background and even found her love, John Murray, who was born and raised in Ireland. Though her family will miss her terribly, they take comfort in knowing she is at peace, reuniting with her late brother, Kenneth Murphy, and her parents, Myrtle and James Murphy.
Visitation will be 11:00 am until service begins at 12:00 noon on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, 38119 (901) 767-8930
