Sharon Heimbach's Obituary
Sharon Heimbach passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Sharon was born in Cincinnati, OH in December 1942 to James and Mary McAnaw. She was the oldest of five children. She was married to the love of her life, John Heimbach for 58 years before he proceeded her in death in 2019.
John & Sharon soon started a family, lovingly welcoming 3 sons, Jim, Jeff, and Steve. They moved to Memphis in August of 1967. Sharon’s greatest joy in life were her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was never in a conversation where she did not talk about her family in the first minutes. Always up for an adventure, she was heavily involved in her son’s lives, never missing a school event or game, even if it meant spending an anniversary(s) with her husband on the bleachers in the rain. Sharon enjoyed baking, playing games, and entertaining the revolving door of friends her sons constantly brought home. She brought great joy to family and friends with beautiful needlepoint Christmas stockings and ornaments. Sharon was actively involved in St Ann and Christian Brother’s parent’s organizations, as well as delivering meals on wheels.
Sharon will be lovingly missed by her sons Jim (Regina), Jeff (Marianna) of Memphis, and Steve (Leslie) of Des Moines, IA. Also remembering their “Gram / Hi” are her grandchildren Kati (Ben) Campbell, Michael Long, Jack Heimbach, Grace Heimbach, Claire Heimbach, Jeffrey Heimbach and Mary Winston Heimbach as well three great grandchildren Luke, Okley, and Maggie Campbell. Sharon is also survived by her sister, Monica Rehring (Tom) of Maryland, and sister-in-law Kathy (Tim) Carroll of Cincinnati, and 6 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and James McAnaw, her sister Colleen McAnaw and brothers, James, and Patrick McAnaw. She is also preceded in death by her grandparents Walter and Alma Martin and her in-laws Joseph and Katherine Heimbach.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, July 5, 2025, for visitation at St. Louis Catholic Church from 9:30 am to 10:45 am followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am.
The family wishes to acknowledge the blessing of the exceptional and loving caregivers of St. Luke’s Cottage and St. Joseph’s Greenhouse at the Ave Maria Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request memorials to Christian Brothers High School, Ave Maria Home, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
