Sean M. Bolton's Obituary
Sean Michael Bolton, 33, died in the line of duty August 1, 2015. He was a six year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, including a tour in Iraq. Upon his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he continued to serve his country by joining the Army National Guard. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, he joined the Memphis Police Department in October 2010. He was most recently assigned to the Mt. Moriah Station where he was selected as Officer of the Month for April 2015. Sean graduated from White Station High School in 1999, where he competed on the football and wrestling teams. He was very active in several martial art disciplines as well as many other athletic activities. Not only was Sean active physically, he was an avid reader, spoke multiple languages, and was taking collegiate courses in political science and history. A lifelong Memphian, Sean was generous with his support to the community in various ways. He was preceded in death by his father, R. Michael Bolton and is survived by his mother, Jean Bolton; his sisters, Michelle Kermeen (Mark) and Jennifer Head (James); brother, Brian Bolton (Debra) and a host of extended family members. There will be a public visitation from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, August 5, at Hope Church on Walnut Grove Road. His funeral service will begin at 11:00 am Thursday, August 6, at Bellevue Baptist Church on Appling Road. Interment will follow at West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to follow in Sean’s generosity memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall”
