Sarah A. Thompson's Obituary
Sarah A. Thompson, 81, of Memphis, TN, was born on July 5, 1942 and passed away on August 15, 2023. She was a retired bookkeeper.
Sarah loved children. She was a Sunday School teacher, a Girl Scout troop leader, and a PTA president. Her greatest joy was helping raise her grandchildren. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed being a member of the competitive BBQ cooking team Leprechaun Cookers with "Big John and The Bubbas". She was lovingly called Mother Boros by her daughters friends and was an honorary grandmother, aunt and sister to many people over the years.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents Samuel H. Ashmore and Hattie S. Ashmore and her husband John H. Thompson. She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Thompson (Jason) and Catherine Davenport (Wes), as well as her stepchildren, Kelly Vogel (Chris), Sean Thompson (Jennifer), and Erin Thompson. She was a proud Grammy to 12 grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday, September 3, at 4:00 p.m., followed by a service at 5:00 p.m. The burial will take place at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. A brief ceremony will be held in the rotunda on Tuesday, September 5, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her memory.
