Sarah Jane Spiotta Peppel's Obituary
Sarah Jane Spiotta Peppel, 33, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 after a long battle with a brain tumor.Born in Memphis, TN on February 17, 1983 she was diagnosed early with Neurofibromatosis. Sarah Jane graduated from Houston High School in 2001 and attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Despite this diagnosis she continued her education earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Memphis. She taught briefly at Cordova Christian Academy and Farmington Presbyterian.Sarah Jane is survived by her loving husband David Rex Peppel, her grandparents Dr. Eugene and Dorothy Spiotta Sr., her parents Dr. Eugene and Gail Spiotta Jr., her brothers Gene (Lisa), Tim (Kim), Daniel (Wes), and sister Whitney (Kirk) Heffernan and numerous nieces and nephews.Sarah Jane was a woman of faith and determination, never once complaining about her condition. Knowing that she is now in heaven and is able to walk, smile, speak and swallow again brings comfort and peace to the family.The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until her service begins at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17 at St. Patrick Presbyterian Church, 710 W. White Road, Collierville, TN.For those who wish, memorials in her honor may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
