Sarah Short's Obituary
Sarah Ragan Short, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 12, 2010. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 14 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Formerly of Decatur, GA and a longtime resident of Germantown, TN, Sarah was born in Chalybeate, MS and graduated from Chalybeate High School. She was the past president of Stage Set at Theatre Memphis and past president of the Landmark Club. Sarah was a member of Germantown United Methodist Church and loved and relied on her Germantown neighbors. She enjoyed working on the recipe books for State Set and loved cooking. Sarah was well known for her banana bread and delicious cakes. She also loved flowers and was a frequent volunteer at the polls on election day and at Methodist Hospital Germantown. Her parents were Onie Tomlinson and Artie K. Ragan. Sarah was preceded in death by her husbands, Lacy Caswell Tate and Richard Valmore Short and siblings, Olene Ragan Searcey, Ruth Ragan Bass, and William Leland Ragan. She is survived by her loving daughter, Judy Tate Pegg (Bill), her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Pegg Whipple (Jim) and William Tate Pegg; her adored great-grandchildren, Tate Elizabeth Whipple, Mary Ross Whipple, and James Cobb Whipple; and her cherished sister, Maryjo Ragan Raper (Joe). Memorial contributions may be made to Stage Set at Theatre Memphis or the charity of the donor’s choice.
