Sarah "Sandy" Nichols' Obituary
Sarah Anne Lankford Nichols, 90, passed away on April 17, 2015. She is survived by her three children, Cynthia A. Guleff, David J. Nichols (Sherri), and William N. Nichols. Her grandchildren, Melissa, Leah and Eric Nichols, and Jason Gatlin (Traci), great grandchildren, Alina and Aven. She is also survived by, sister, Margaret Gauldin. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Nichols. She was known to all as “Sandy” , born to Joseph Milton Lankford and Carrie Mai Lankford. She attended Lambuth College in Jackson, TN where she met her husband. They were married for 53 years at the time of his death in 1999. Long active in social, civic and religious circles, Sandy volunteered at Independent Presbyterian Church until the time of her death. She was an active member of the Republican Party for much of her life in Memphis and an avid supporter of the Memphis Zoo and various wildlife organizations. Visitation will be Monday, April 20, from 6:00-8:00pm, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Independent Presbyterian Church, Tuesday, April 21, at 2:30pm with interment to follow after the service. The family requests any memorials be sent to Wings Cancer Foundation.
