Sarah Louise Hall Bowlan's Obituary
Sarah Louise Hall Bowlan died Saturday, January 9, 2016. She was born March 12, 1928 in the community of Cordova, TN where she attended Cordova Baptist Church and the former Cordova School. She graduated from Germantown High School where she met her lifetime companion and beloved husband Charles W. Bowlan. They married in 1947 and were inseparable until his death in 2005. She was the bursar at Rhodes College for more than 25 years – nurturing many Rhodes’ students along the way with simple lessons on personal finance. She retired from Rhodes in 1989 and spent her retirement years in Florida. She always considered Memphis to be her home, however, and will be buried beside her husband in Memorial Park Cemetery.Her life was devoted to the family that she adored. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Edward Pittman) of Marianna, Florida and her son, Mike (Patti C.) of Jackson, Tennessee; five grandchildren Christy (Michael McCormick), Angela, Amanda (Chris Butler), John (Pamela) and Jeremy; and nine great-grandchildren, Caleb, Casey, Evalynn, Wyatt, Nolan, MacKenzie, Beau, Rachel and Simone. She gave us her whole heart, and we shall carry her in ours forever.Visitation with the family will be begin at 1 p.m. immediately followed by her funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 14 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Emerald Coast Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery….”Celebrating Life…..Behind the Stone Wall”.
