Sara Kelly Young's Obituary
Sara Kelly Young passed away peacefully on May 9th at the Methodist Hospice Residence. She was born in Vaiden, Mississippi on November 24th 1940. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl. Sara is survived by her son, Ben, her daughter-in-law, Jennifer, and her granddaughters; Ashleigh, Mary Peyton and Katie. Sara worked in several Memphis area jewelry stores throughout her life. She enjoyed meeting with different people and always made sure they found what they were looking for. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and in this role guided tours of the Mallory Neely House sharing the history of Memphis with many visitors. Sara and Carl were members of Covenant Methodist church and they cherished the people of faith that they worshiped with there. The family would like to thank her caregivers at the Gardens of Germantown and Apple Grove as they took care of Sara in the last years of her life. The individuals who take care of people with memory issues are amazing. We would also like to thank the staff at the Methodist Hospice Residence. The caring staff who take care of patients and their families at the end of their life are a Godsend. The memorial service for Sara will be held in the Chapel at the Methodist Hospice Residence at 6416 Quince Road Memphis, TN on Friday May 12th at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Methodist Foundation Attn. QoLA program located at 6400 Shelby View Drive Ste 101 Memphis, TN 38134 or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119, 901-767-8930…….”Celebrating Life… Behind The Stone Wall”.
