Sara Qualls' Obituary
Sara Ashworth Qualls died Sunday, January 17, 2010 from complications of ALS. She was Manager of Telecommunications for Methodist LeBonheur Hospitals until her retirement. She was a member of numerous Telecommunication groups and was the founder of the National Startel Users Group. After retirement she became an independent Telecommunications Consultant. She was a member of the Josephine Circle, which provides non-interest loans to applicants of higher education and scholarships to high school seniors entering the field of health science. She was also a member of Tiara Tea Society, which provides healthcare to at least one little girl a year and Carnival Memphis which supports various childrens charities in the Memphis area. She was a member of the Grand Krewe of Ramet, Grand Krewe of Luxor and a former Carnival Krewe Queen. She was the daughter of the late Howard Lee Ashworth. She leaves behind her mother Viola Ashworth, her children Teresa and Ric Taylor, Trey Bruce, Phillip and Cindy Qualls, and Alison and Rick Lyon, her sisters Mary Kalmanson and Linda Barton, nine grandchildren, a great grandchild and long time companion, William J. Britton. A special thanks to her Circle of Friends and Secret Pal group for their love and support during her illness. Memorials may be made to the ALS Foundation or any of her charities in lieu of flowers.
