Sara Elaine Holden Laman's Obituary
Sara Elaine Holden Laman, 90, of Memphis, Tennessee went Home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 7, 2019. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 17th at First Evangelical Church at 2:30 pm. Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge.She was born on September 10th, 1928 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the daughter of Madge T. and John M. Holden. Except for 3 years in Norfolk, her childhood was spent in Charlotte. She graduated from Derita High School. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Sylvia Hardman and brother John David Holden.Sara Elaine attended college in New York City. She met her husband, Bob Laman, 92, in New York City where they both attended National Bible Institute. They were married in 1948 and were together for 70 years until her passing. They raised four children together and lived for many years in the Philadelphia area and later Jacksonville, Florida. The family settled in Memphis in 1974. Sara Elaine had a successful career for nearly 40 years as a realtor in Memphis. She was also a gifted pianist. They served as faithful members at First Evangelical Church and had a special heart for missions work and missionaries. Sara was a member of the Salvation Army Auxilary and the Memphis Symphony League.Survivors include her husband, Bob, and their four loving children, David Laman; Carole Laman Martin and husband Charles; Jon Laman and wife Deborah; Joyce Laman Spiecha and husband Rob; seven grandchildren Ali Scott and husband Eddie; Jonathan Laman and wife Andrea; Jennifer Russo and husband Michael; Owen Millard, Sara Millard, Emily Laman and Holden Laman. She leaves six great-grandchildren Sofia and Jacob; Margo and Jack; and Skylar and Gabriel. Children by heart are Grace Seay, Carol Hindle, and Philip Sardar and their families.
