Sara Luton Eubanks' Obituary
Sara Luton Eubanks, age 83, resident of Collierville Tennessee, peacefully left this life on Tuesday March 14, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Sara was born May 21, 1939 in Dallas, Texas as the third of four children to parents Joe and Ruth Luton. She graduated from Treadwell High School in Memphis as a member of the Class of 1957. She worked at the Toddle House and Delta Airlines before marrying her husband, Vernon, in 1959 to raise a family and become a full-time homemaker. During her lifetime, Sara enjoyed playing football (yep, she was a tomboy as a kid), bowling, playing cards and dominoes with friends, and volunteering at her church and community. She was a longtime member of St. James United Methodist Church which became CrossRoads United Methodist Church and later merged with Peace Tree United Methodist Church. Sara was a very caring person, always trying to brighten someone’s day by sending a card or making a telephone call. She was also the church prayer chain coordinator for over 20 years.
Sara is preceded in death by her father, Joe Baxter Luton, mother, Ruth Blackman Luton, her sister, Margaret Ruth Noble, her two brothers, Joe Baxter Luton, Jr., and Marshall King Luton.
Sara is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Vernon Eubanks, her two children, Susan Duncan, and Kenneth Eubanks (Sheila), her three grandchildren, Matthew Duncan (Ryan Scott), Veronica Cook (Michael), and Elizabeth Stubbs (Michael), her five great-grandchildren, Emory, Reese, Tess, Harper, and Georgia, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 10 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at Peace Tree United Methodist Church at 9315 E Shelby Dr. Collierville, Tennessee. A private inurnment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Peace Tree United Methodist Church.
