Santina Brandon's Obituary
Santina Cecilia Giaccaglini Brandon, left this life for a better one December 24, 2010, at the age of 91. Devoted wife and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John Wesley Brandon, Jr. and their son, John Wesley Brandon, III. She leaves behind four children, 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Born in Memphis, one of six children of Italian immigrants Alberto and Esotta Giaccaglini, she remained close to her siblings and their families throughout her life. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Alberta Giaccaglini Burnette, of Henderson, NV. Her children include Mrs. Phyllis Kallaher of Cordova, TN, Mrs. Beverly Coxwell of Apalachicola, FL, Dr. Thomas Brandon of Salisbury, MD, and Michael Brandon of Pidgeon Forge, TN. She was known to her grandchildren as Mimi. They will miss her greatly and are Walter, Stephen, Vincent, and Matthew Kallaher; John Larkin and her namesake Santina Larkin; Shannon Caraway and Mark Amagliani; John Thomas, Christopher, and Courtney Brandon; and Dereck, Melissa, and Drew Brandon. Santina, known to all as “Tina”, besides raising five children, was a crossing guard for 25 years for the public school system. She was a devoted parishioner and volunteer at St. James Catholic Church and was also a member of the Italian Club. She loved her family infinitely, and also enjoyed travel, bingo, bunko, poker, her church, and living life with zeal. She was an incredibly energetic and generous individual who would willingly give of her time and resources. Tina had been a resident at Ave Maria Assisted Living in Bartlett, TN, for more than ten years. Until recently, she remained socially active within the community of Ave Maria, enjoying the company of many friends. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at St. James Catholic Church followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Ave Maria Assisted Living.
