Sandy Meloni's Obituary
Sondra (Sandy) Shanks Meloni, 73, passed away surrounded by her loving family at her home in Memphis, TN on November 18th, 2015. Sandy developed Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for the first time at age 39 and over the years survived four battles with Lymphoma and Leukemia each time bouncing back with grace and vivacity. In the end, it was Myelodysplastic Syndrome that her body and spirit could no longer fight but, she will remain an inspiration to all. Sandy had a fun loving personality and lived life to the fullest. She loved her family and friends dearly. Sandy was born to Celia and Herman Shanks on January 17, 1942 in Memphis, TN. She attended Central High School and Memphis State University. Sandy’s professional career as a realtor spanned 40 years, and she was a life time member of the Multi-Million Dollar Sales Club. Sandy was also one of the first women in the state of Tennessee to sell bonds as a Licensed Security Dealer at UMIC and was the first women ever inducted to the UMIC President’s Club. Sandy is survived by Gary Meloni, her loving husband of 54 years, her three children Kim Meloni, Gary Meloni Jr. and his wife Barbara, and Halle Whitlock and her husband Derek. Sandy also leaves 5 grandchildren Witt, Ceil, and Abby Meloni and Logan and Coleman Young. Family and friends will gather from 12:30 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home before a memorial service at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 20, 2015.
