Sandra Roberson's Obituary
Sandra Swinny Roberson, 79, went to be with the Lord after a hard fought battle with lung cancer on Sunday, March 1, 2015. Born February 28, 1936 in Bradford, Tennessee she called Memphis home for over 60 years. She was a graduate of Miland High School and attended Memphis State University where she met the love of her life, John Wesley Roberson. She committed her life to loving Jesus and caring for her family. Sandra modeled what it meant to be a Godly wife and mother.She truly had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed serving others, all the while pointing people to Jesus. She was an elegant and wise woman who offered advice to satisfy every situation, from dressing in style to tips on baking a delicious cheesecake.Sandra was a faithful member and leader at Central Church and Grace Evangelical Church for many years. At Grace, she was on the board of the Women’s Ministries, mentoring women of all ages and she served as the Chair of the Greeter’s Ministry. Her servant’s heart was evident to all and her smile lit up the room.She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Wes Roberson; her daughter Leesa Davis and husband Mike; her son Bart Roberson and wife Beth; her grandchildren Tucker Davis and wife Becky, Reed Davis and wife Gretchen, Meg Roberson, and John Roberson; her great grandchildren Zellee and Ansley; her sister Beverly Booth and husband Mark; Her niece Julie Baird; and her nephew Andrew Baird.Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, William Barton Swinny and Julia Louise Richmond.After a private family burial, visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 12:30 in the afternoon. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Church.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Venture at Grace Evangelical Church, 9750 Wolf River Blvd., Germantown, TN.Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119,”Behind the Stone Wall.”
