Sandra Rhodes' Obituary
Sandra S. Rhodes, 74, of Memphis, died Sunday night at St. Peter Villa Nursing home. She was born September 2, 1940, in Memphis, the second child of Charles and Dorothy Rhodes. She is survived by her best friend, boyfriend and husband of fifty years, Bob Barg. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Rhodes, Sr., also of Memphis. She was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Rhodes, Sr. and her sisters Eva Hurt and Patricia Rhodes. Sandra studied at Memphis State University, achieving a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Sandra continued her studies and achieved a Master of Science in Microbiology. Sandra loved, and was loved, by numerous rescued dogs and cats that she cared for during her life. She contributed regularly to the work of the Humane Society of Memphis and other animal care organizations. Sandra also had a lifelong love of gardening. The garden at her Midtown Memphis home contained a variety of plants, including over one hundred rose bushes. Sandra loved God with all of her being and had a special devotion to our Blessed Mother. Sandra was truly a loving, caring and unselfish person. The family will welcome visitors from 5pm-7pm, Thursday, October 30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services and burial will take place 10 a.m., Friday, October 31 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
