Sandra "Sandy" Wallace Jackson's Obituary
Sandra "Sandy" Wallace Jackson, 84, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
Born on March 13, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, Sandy was the daughter of Hollis and Virginia Wallace. She graduated from Whitehaven High School and spent much of her life doing what she loved most—taking care of the people around her. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she made everyone feel loved, welcomed, and important.
In 1981, she married Gordon Jackson, and together they built a beautiful, blended family with Sandy’s daughters, Celeste and Angela, and Gordon's children, Amanda and Eric. Sandy was first married to Kenneth W. Pasley, with whom she shared two beloved daughters.
Known affectionately as "Grandma Mimi," Sandy was truly the heart of the family. Her greatest joy in life was loving her family, and she loved them bigger than life itself. Whether she was cheering from the sidelines, hosting family gatherings, or simply picking up the phone to check on someone, she made sure everyone knew they were loved.
Sandy never met a stranger. Her warm smile, kind heart, and genuine interest in others turned acquaintances into friends and friends into family. She had a way of brightening every room she entered and leaving people feeling better than when they arrived.
She was known for many things—her love of shopping, fashion, the beach, and spending time with family and friends—but perhaps most famously for her baking. Her homemade fudge and chocolate pie became family legends, requested at every holiday and special occasion. The recipes may have been simple, but the love she poured into them was the secret ingredient everyone will remember.
Her home was always open, her hugs were always warm, and her laughter was contagious. She created countless memories around kitchen tables, family dinners, vacations, celebrations, and everyday moments that became treasured traditions.
Sandy leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and joy. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gordon Jackson; her daughters, Celeste S. Autry and Angela P. Schelp; grandchildren Scott Alexander Suddoth, John Peyton Schelp, Richard Carson Schelp, Chandler Celeste Schelp Bethell, Joshua Dixon Autry, Bryce Wallace Autry, Charlie Isham, and Jackson Isham; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hollis and Virginia Wallace, and her brother, Robert Wallace.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, with visitation beginning at noon. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to a celebration of life with those details to follow.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers, hospice team, and medical staff for the compassionate care and kindness they provided.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in honor of Sandy Jackson.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Sandy's love, laughter, and beautiful spirit will live on in all of us. She was truly one of a kind, and we were blessed beyond measure to call her ours.
