Samuel Hendricks Moore's Obituary
Samuel Hendricks Moore, 88, of Memphis, TN, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 12, 2009. He retired from the U.S. Navy after serving during World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Moore also retired from the U.S. Civil Service as an ammunition inspector. He was a member of the Summer Ave. Masonic Lodge, and the Summer Ave. Alcoholics Anonymous.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Melba Jane Plumley Moore. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife Mary Moore; four daughters, Barbara Horton, Sharon Vance, Denise LaForce, and Rebecca Lynn Moore; one son, Tom K. Moore; four step-sons, Greg Jones, Jeff Jones, Jere Jones, and Eugene Jones; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.The family will receive family and friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 16 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 17 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Sulphur Springs Methodist Church Cemetery in Selmer, TN.Memorials may be made to Sulphur Springs Methodist Church, Selmer TN or U.S.S.
