Samuel Edward (Sam) Thayer
Samuel Edward Thayer of Memphis, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the age of 71, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He grew up in Riverton, Wyoming, married the love of his life, Karen, and they have lived in Memphis for over 35 years.
Sam was born in Laramie, Wyoming on May 29, 1950 to Arthur Ray Thayer and Jean Wheeler.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother and his son, Samuel Edward Thayer, Jr.
He leaves his wife, Karen Jolley Thayer of Memphis; three brothers, Art Thayer, Robert Thayer, John Thayer, and a sister, Shari Thayer, all of Colorado; and a number of nephews and nieces of Colorado, and nephew, Christopher Brandon Jolley of Memphis, Tennessee.
Sam loved his family and friends and was always ready to help anyone in any way he could. He was a mechanical genius and talented gardener. He loved everything to do with nature. He was a Magnificent Man in the eyes of those who knew his heart and his kindness.
He was retired from his work history – which took him from the mountains of Colorado to city life in Memphis. He was a skilled administrator and brilliant entrepreneur.
Arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, Memphis, Tennessee.
There will be a private celebration of life, to be scheduled.
