Samuel Emerson Brown's Obituary
Our beloved son, Samuel Emerson Brown, age 25, of Germantown, TN passed from his earthly home on Sunday morning, August 18,2024 in the loving arms of his mother, father, brother and sister. Sam’s courageous eight year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma came to a peaceful and merciful end. He faced his cancer battle as he faced life with immeasurable strength, hope and dignity.
Sam was born on September 29th, 1998 in Germantown, TN. He entered this world an absolute force of nature. To know Sam was to love him and to experience his wit, humor and deep and thoughtful nature. At 6’8, Sam’s stature was only matched by his huge, loving and compassionate heart.
Sam was a graduate of Saint Benedict at Auburndale where he was a standout athlete in baseball and basketball and well-loved friend and classmate. He attended the University of Memphis and dreamed of one day working at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital which had become our second home. The nurses, doctors and all his caregivers at St Jude diligently and lovingly helped to sustain his life. Sam was an inspiration and had a far-reaching impact on more lives than he could ever imagine.
Sam leaves behind his mother, Deirdre Dickson Brown, his father, David Brown, and his brother and sister, Will and Meredith Brown, his grandparents, JoAnn Dickson and John Dickson and Dorothy and Emerson Brown as well as extended family of aunts, uncle and cousins.
Services for Sam will be held on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, at 4:00 pm in the Riverside Chapel, with visitation between 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
If a donation in Sam’s memory would like to be made, the family requests any donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Memphis Botanic Gardens.
