Sally Dame Roberds' Obituary
Sally Dame Roberds, a lifelong Memphian, died September 12, 2025. She was born August 25, 1937. She was the daughter of Zella Gilmore Dame and Harry Newton Dame, former Clerk of Session at Idlewild. She attended Central High School and graduated Southwestern (now Rhodes College) and was a lifelong member of Idlewild Presbyterian Church.
She lived a loving life with her family and friends. Whether at Idlewild, Les Passe, Silver Sneakers, Lichterman Nature Center, or a family beach vacation, she deeply appreciated and was appreciated by all that she met.
We share particular gratitude for her loving neighbors and caretakers, who showed tremendous grace and love in her last weeks.
She was preceded by her parents and her husband, William Dodds Roberds, Sr. She is survived by her son, William Dodds Roberds, Jr., and her daughters, Sara (Sissy) Carpenter (Doug), and Ellen Roberds, and five grandchildren: Katie Elizabeth and Wallace Carpenter and Abram, Obed and Niko Bingham of Memphis.
Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Idlewild Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Sept 16th at 10am with memorial service to follow in the Chapel at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials to be made to Idlewild Presbyterian Church.
