Sally Brown's Obituary
Sally P. Brown, 77, went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ after bravely battling a long illness with dignity and courage. Born December 9, 1932 in Brookhaven, MS to John Bent Perkins and Julia Herring Perkins. Sally attended the University of Mississippi and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Everett Pidgeon, Jr. and her son, John Michael Pidgeon. She leaves behind her sons, J. Everett Pidgeon, III (Amy Maynard) and Patrick D. Pidgeon of Los Angeles, her three grandchildren, Brent W. Pidgeon, Jordan Rachell Pidgeon and Kelsey A. Pidgeon. Her two brothers, John B. Perkins (Margaret Ann) and James H. Perkins (Patti). She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Memphis Garden Club, the Little Garden Club, and one of the early volunteers of the Bunny Room Project at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. A gifted artist, she enjoyed painting portraits and landscapes. Sally was a nationally known horticulturist, having won multiple national blue ribbons for her ferns and exotic plants. She will always be remembered as an avid lover of animals, especially her beloved Barney and Stewart. Often she would house and provide care for many stray and homeless dogs. She was a remarkable mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law as well as a friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all the people whose lives she touched. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 10 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 11 at Second Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital or the ASPCA.
